Library Policies and Privileges

 Drinks with Covers

Drinks may be enjoyed throughout the Library as long as they are covered.

Before we begin our tour of Library Collections, let's review some important library policies and privileges.

Covered Drinks
Please feel free to enjoy covered drinks throughout the Library. Make sure they are in closed containers, such as covered cups, soda cans, or water bottles. We would prefer you not make a mess, but please let us know right away if you spill!

Food
Food is limited to the lower level through the fourth floor, and must be snacks or wrapped items that are consumed individually. No food is allowed on floors 5-8. No group meals are allowed in public areas. For example, you shouldn't have a pizza party in the Library. Food and drinks are not permitted while using library computers.

Cell Phones, Laptops, Pagers, Conversation
Please respect fellow library patrons by observing the quiet/silent rules posted throughout the Library. Cell phone use is not allowed on Floors 6-8. Phones, laptops, and pagers should be on quiet mode at all times.

Extended Hours for SJSU Students
The Library has extended study hours for students Monday-Thursday and Sundays: 9PM-Midnight. During these hours, the Lower Level, Mezzanine, Ground Floor, and the 3rd Floor will not be available for use. Public PCs are available for library research. Circulation services, including the self-checkout, are not available. Students may be required to show their current SJSU Tower Card to enter and stay in the building.
