Company Performance (Industry Ranking)
Company performance can also be determined
by industry ranking. You need to know the SIC (Standard Industrial Classification)
or NAICS (North American Industrial Classification System) number of your
company to search for industry reports. If you don't know it, you can go
into basic directory databases like Dun and Bradstreet, Factiva, or Business
and Company Resource Center to find it. The following two databases help
determine how well your company is doing within the industry:
-
Standard and Poor's Net Advantage: Includes
industry surveys so you can compare your company to the industry. Can also
determine how the industry is performing in general and industry trends
and projections. Can search by company name or ticker symbol.
-
Business Source Premier: SWOT Analysis.
-
Business and Company Resource Center:
Includes sections which provide industry snapshot, organization and structure,
background and development, current conditions, industry leaders, research
and technology and a bibliography of further readings.
